The dynamic team of ‘the ladies in red’ forming the Sabah Women Entrepreneurs & Professionals Association (SWEPA) hosted an Appreciation dinner for donors and sponsors of the 3 D Live Portrait Fund- Raising Project in aid of SWEPA BAREFOOT SOLAR PROJECT 2.0 Phase 2 – SWEPA ENRICHE PROGRAMME , held in Shangri – La Rasa Ria Resort & Spa , on Friday 24th February 2017.
The main Guest of Honor was Sabah Tourism Board Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai and his lovely wife, Datin Lucy Yong who recited their full support towards the Barefoot Solar Project 2.0 and Datuk Joniston commended on the work done by SWEPA to raise funds for the socio-economic empowerment project. He also applauded the trio ‘solar mamas’, namely, Tarihing Masanim from Kg Sonsogon Magandai (Barefoot Solar Project 1.0) , Gining Jaineh from Kg Sungai Magandai & Rusni Singkamung representing Kg Sonsogon Suyad & Kg Binontungan Suyad (Barefoot Solar Project 2.0) for adapting and learning hands on their solar training from the renowned Barefoot College in Tilonia, Rajestan, India under the genius and compassionate Dean of the Barefoot College, Mr. Bunker Roy. Datuk Joniston further went onto say , ” I salute SWEPA for their commitment and devotion in uplifting the lives of the people, and your contribution to the socio-economic development of this marginalized community is a catalyst for achievement of the national development strategies and sustainable development goals of our State Government”.
This gala night featured a new and exciting way of transforming a person’s self portrait into a ‘live 3D portraiture’ which comes to life in the full flair of colour and visual authenticity and has been brilliantly created by the extraordinaire Malaysia’s one and only 3D Live Portraiture Photographer and reputedly the world’s first Master Photographer Association (MPAUK) Certified 3D Master Photographer, Mr. Patrick Low. He alone performed his specialty on 24 elite philanthropists from Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu. He magically transformed the 3D live portraits into ‘ speaking holograms’ . It was a thrilling and most magnificent moment watching attentively without a blink as the circle of life came to life! The 3D Live sized portraits were unveiled one by one with their dashing and beautiful donors standing proudly next to their portraits. This spectacular red carpeted circular platform was alive with the most elite and eccentric donors captured in just the right moment with pulses racing, eyeballs moving and lips that spoke. Everyone was left amazed and in dismay as to how a hologram with just a click of a button on an app on your smart phone could reveal such an extraordinary phenomena.
The Barefoot Solar Project Organising Chairperson, Datin Jeanette Tambakau with the gracious combination of help from a successful socialite Datin Viannie Undikai, who is also with Prestige magazine , played a key role in networking and connecting SWEPA to the rightful parties concerned, which brought about a collaboration by donors, sponsors and partners in the aid of Barefoot Solar Project 2.0 Phase 2.
We are all ‘brothers and sisters’ and it is an innate emotion of compassion for one another that we all unite for a single cause, to help one another to lead better lives so that the generations to come will continue to prosper also and sustain.
As Patrick Low worked tediously and meticulously giving his best to each donor and offering all proceeds of his work as his corporate social responsibility towards SWEPA. SWEPA is deeply humbled by his actions. Upon unveiling each portrait the donor was also presented with an exclusive Coffee Table book, by Patrick who featured a collection of all donor portraits and a magnitude of appreciation was also mentioned about SWEPA’s partners in its Barefoot Solar Project 2.0 journey. These being, Tan Holdings, Sabah Energy Corporation, Raleigh International, Asian Forestry Company Sabah, Sabah Land Rover Club, PACOS Trust, Mouwad, Imago, Louis Pang Photography, Palace Hotel and Daily Express, our on going partner in reporting and coverage.
SWEPA has grown over the years since March 1993, then spear-headed by the Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) . SWEPA’s 2017 President, Ms Wynnie Jong commented on that night that Barefoot College as of today ranked as the top 13th NGO community project in the world through its enormous efforts made to empower rural women to shine ‘light’ on to their lives and their communities to improve for a better and promising tomorrow. Thus, this recognition has further strengthened ties between SWEPA and Bunker Roy of Barefoot College , Tilonia.
A tiny little seed was tenderly embedded in 2015, by Datuk Aminah Ambrose, who was the Organizing Chairperson of a glitzy SWEPA’s Bollywood Extravaganza Night and today two years onwards, this seed has germinated being phototropic and positively growing as the bearer of ‘ fruits of goodness’.
Our sincere gratitude to all who have contributed to the success of the entire fundraising project especially to all our special donors and sponsors, namely Rasa Ria Shangri-La Resort & Spa , The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Prestige, Sound and Lights Event Supplies, Driven Flavour Band and Daily Express.
Much thanks goes to the hardwork and dedication of the Organising teams headed by Teoh See See , who has ensured the success of the Appreciation Dinner at Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu.
May SWEPA be blessed to continue on its path and help as many marginalised villages possible, alleviating socio-economic status for a better, productive and prosperous Sabah.
